Oats

Oats are among the best of traditional breakfast foods.  As usual, the less processed the better, so steel-cut is best, but if you’ve got to make sacrifices for convenience, choose the 5 min kind over “quick oats”/1 min, and for sure steer clear of those packets (I don’t think I need to mention that the flavoured varieties are also prohibited).  Cook according to the package, or try cooking oats in eggs.  Everything can be improved with salt and a dash of cinnamon.
