Agatsu's Bench Program with only barbells

Ask your stupid shit here

Post Thu May 07, 2009 12:58 pm

I'm looking to try out Agatsu's bench program, however I will be working out at home. I will have an incline/flat/decline bench and a power cage but that's it, no dumbbells.

Can anyone recommend what to do for the other exercises?
Pec Deck/Dumbbell flys
Side lateral raises with Dumbbells
Rear delts on the pec deck OR Seated Bent Over Lateral Raise
Dumbbell flat bench
Dumbbell incline
Dumbbell incline flies
Heavy pushdowns
Reverse pushdowns supersetted w/ rope pushdowns

Currently, I'm just doing a Push/Pull workout, Push is Squat, Flat Barbell Bench, Seated Barbell Press, Rack Press then Close Grip Bench.

I'm looking to do Agatsu's on Monday, Squat routine on Tuesday, Agatsu's on Thursday and Coan-Phillipi on Fridays.

Hmmm, for the first one you can try holding a plate in each hand and doing them like that.

Side lateral you can substitute with upright rows, just make sure to focus on the side delts.

Dumbbell bench/incline just subtitute with barbell and do more high rep stuff.

Pushdowns you can do close grip bench/reverse grip bench/JM press

Hope this helps.

That's a huge help, thank you.

After reading your response, I remember that such a thing as dumbbell handles exist. I'm going to buy a pair so that should solve the issue partly, and I'll use your suggestions otherwise.

Thanks again.

Any chance that you could update the bench calculator to match Agatsu's program more closely?
I rely on it because his OP on SA is confusing at best, but the caluclator missing the pause bench stuff, as well as the reps for accessory work changing based on the week.
